Bicarb Elite is an advanced sports fuel for high-intensity efforts, developed with elite athletes in Singapore to help delay the build-up of acidity in your muscles and support all-out performance.
It’s made for athletes who want the benefits of bicarbonate without the usual stomach discomfort.
Bicarb Elite is designed for sports that involve intermittent or constant efforts near or above your anaerobic threshold, such as running, HYROX, cycling, triathlon, rowing, swimming, and team sports and combat sports where repeated hard surges decide the outcome.
Research on sodium bicarbonate shows it can improve performance in high-intensity efforts and repeated sprints by increasing the body’s ability to buffer rising acidity.
It can also be used before key interval or threshold sessions in training to help you maintain quality across sets and, in some studies, may enhance adaptations to high-intensity interval training over time.
Some athletes' anecdotes and early research suggest potential benefits in longer steady-state events such as marathons and long-distance triathlons, but this is still an emerging area of science.
During hard efforts near or above threshold, your muscles produce hydrogen ions (acid) faster than your body can clear them. This rising acidity is one of the reasons your legs start to burn and your power drops.
Bicarb Elite provides a measured dose of sodium bicarbonate, which raises your blood’s buffering capacity and helps move excess acid out of working muscles. This slows the build-up of acidity, so you can sustain high efforts for longer.
Bicarb Elite also uses a specially formulated gel matrix, developed and tested with athletes to be gentle on the stomach. This gel matrix helps the bicarbonate pass through the stomach more comfortably and supports its delivery into the bloodstream, so you get the performance benefits of bicarb with less of the usual gut distress.
We recommend taking Bicarb Elite about 120 minutes before exercise.
To prepare, mix the #1 Drink Mix with 120 ml of water, then add the #2 Bicarbonate, stir or shake well, and consume immediately.
CAUTION: Do not take on an empty stomach. High sodium content. Do not take more than 2 servings per week.
If you have kidney disease, high blood pressure, are on a sodium-restricted diet or take regular medication, seek medical advice before using bicarbonate-based products.
#1 Drink Mix: Erythritol, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Alginate, Lemon Fruit Powder, Lemon Flavour
#2 Bicarbonate: Sodium Bicarbonate
The most common side effect of sodium bicarbonate supplementation is gastrointestinal discomfort. To help minimise this, you can:
- Sip your dose slowly over around 30 minutes rather than all at once,
- Drink an additional 500–700 ml of fluid in the same period, and
- Take Bicarb Elite with your pre-event meal that includes carbohydrates, which may support tolerance and absorption.
Always test your protocol in training before using it on race day.
CAUTION: Do not take on an empty stomach.
