⏰ How & when to take Bicarb Elite ⏰

We recommend taking Bicarb Elite about 120 minutes before your session or race. The optimal window is roughly 90–150 minutes before activity to allow the bicarbonate to be absorbed into the bloodstream and to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal discomfort.

Mix and prepare it as directed on the pack, then sip it over time rather than in one big gulp to support comfort and tolerance.

CAUTION: Do not take on an empty stomach.

Yes, many athletes combine bicarbonate with their usual race-day nutrition such as caffeine, gels, and sports drinks.

Avoid highly acidic drinks (such as colas) for about 20 minutes before and after consuming Bicarb Elite.

The key is to test your full setup in training first to make sure your stomach tolerates the combination before you use it in an important race.

CAUTION: Do not take on an empty stomach.

Once absorbed, elevated blood bicarbonate levels typically last a few hours. In practice, one serving is intended to cover a single key session or race, not multiple hard sessions on the same day.

Research studies typically use around 0.2–0.3 g of sodium bicarbonate per kg of body weight to balance performance benefits and tolerance.

Our recommended doses are designed within this range. Exceeding our recommended dosage is at your own risk and may increase the chance of gastrointestinal discomfort.

No. For best results, mix and consume each serving shortly after preparation. The dosage is matched to your body weight, and a lower dose is less likely to provide the same benefits.

🏃🏻‍♂️Training & Racing 🏃🏻‍♂️

Some athletes and early research suggest possible benefits in longer steady-state events such as marathons and long-distance triathlons, but this is still an emerging area of science.

Athletes have also reported that Bicarb Elite helps them tolerate higher carbohydrate intake during long races. Most athletes currently use bicarbonate mainly for high-intensity races and key training sessions.

If you want to try it for long events, always test your full protocol in training first.

Most athletes use one full serving for the main event and avoid re-dosing on the same day to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal upset.

If you regularly race heats and finals, test different timings and amounts in training first and speak with a sports nutrition professional if unsure. Because of the high sodium content, make sure you consume 500–700 ml of water around the same period.

You can, but it’s usually not necessary. Bicarb Elite is most effective and cost-efficient when reserved for high-intensity workouts and races where acidity build-up is a real limiter.

🥣 Product Basics 🥣

Bicarb Elite has a light lemon flavour designed to be easy to drink before hard sessions. The drink mix is viscous (think a creamy soup) to encapsulate the bicarbonate. It’s formulated to be palatable and low in calories, so you can combine it with your pre-event nutrition such as caffeine, gels, and sports drinks.

Store Bicarb Elite in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the sachets sealed until use and out of reach of children. Always check the best-before date printed on the sachets.

Bicarb Elite is intended for healthy adults.

If you have kidney disease, high blood pressure, are on a sodium-restricted diet, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take regular medication, speak with a healthcare professional before using bicarbonate-based products.

Sodium bicarbonate is a well-known buffering agent that has been used in sport for decades. We do not add any banned substances to Bicarb Elite. However, anti-doping rules can change and athletes are always responsible for what they use, so please check the latest guidance from your sport’s governing body or team doctor.

This is a common sign your gut is sensitive to the dose or timing. Next time, try using a lower dose, sipping the drink more slowly over ~30 minutes, taking it with a small carb-containing meal, and allowing the full 2 hours before exercise. If symptoms persist, stop use and consult a healthcare professional.
